Current Situation:
General
The Muslim and Communist insurgencies pretty much stopped. However new news about a discrimination and potential genocide
in MIndanao have raised the stability of this region into doubt.
Economy
The Economy of the Philippines has remained in it's weak, fragile state. However, government reforms are expected to significantly
improve the ecomy.
Also, the government ordered a new project which will build a system of bridges, highways, Ferry routes, airports and
one large channal. These are expected to steamline trade considerably.
Finally, the Government is signing trade agreements with Switzerland. This is the third nation that has signed a trade
agreement with the Philippines, following the CSA and Malaysia. Currently agreements are in the works with trade agreements
with Israel.
Military
Due to the heavy cost of upkeeping the military, many high level buearocrats have considered puting half the military
in "reserve" status. This would mean that they would be paided considerabley less and the government will spend
less on upkeep of facilities.
